18 Feb Off to a Flying Start: 2015 Furniture Fair Highlights so far…
We’re only 8 weeks into 2015 and already seeing some outstanding new designs coming out of the European furniture fairs. imm Cologne, Maison et Objet Paris and the Stockholm Furniture Fair welcome the very best in both residential and contemporary contract furniture manufacturers and their new designs have not disappointed. Here are Tangram’s favourites so far…
The Morph collection from Zeitraum remains a firm favourite, so you can imagine our delight when we saw the new Morph Duo pieces! The Morph Duo Lounge provides a two seat complement to the classic Morph lounge chair, while the Dining option offers a whole new concept – “a sofa for dining”. Chatting the night away with your friends/family around the dinner table never looked so comfy!
The Joco Stone: new occasional table from Walter Knoll highlighting the current lightweight trend. Expertly manufactured, the marble top sits effortlessly on the delicate framework creating a surprisingly effective partnership.
Sticking with the lightweight trend, another highlight is the newest edition to the Aura collection from Spanish manufacturers TREKU. TREKU continue to add new pieces to their most popular collection, including this lightweight sideboard which gives the illusion of floating.
Another new variation on a popular product – the Happy chair and sofa from Swedese. Previously only available on stainless steel base and legs, the added beech and oak options are certainly something to smile about!
Finally, a stunning new product from up and coming Scandinavian manufacturer Friends & Founders. Less than two years old, the brand launched the new Knockout table on home turf at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The table has a solid stone base with stem and top in aluminium. Practical too – the stem and top lifts out and can be used outdoors by sticking in the ground. (We thank our friends over at Relay Design Agency for pointing out this gem!)
2015 has been a very strong year in contemporary furniture design so far and it’s only February. With the Tangram team off to Milan in April we cant wait to see what the next few months have in store!
