15 Jan 2020 Product Highlights
Looking back on 2020 (if we dare) we have gathered together the year’s most loved products. From frequently bought items, to some of our interior designers’ favourite furniture and lighting designs, discover Tangram’s top products of 2020!
Interior designer Jenny kick starts the list. Finding it impossible to narrow down to just one product, Jenny has selected two and for good reason.
Firstly, a recent product launched by Moooi – Flock of Light. Described as a swarm of bright lights, Flock of Light is said to ‘capture the warm magic of a summer evening’. Echoing this idea, Jenny loves the firefly effect that the design characterises.
Second on Jenny’s list is the USM Haller. By no means a new design, none the less the Haller is a staple piece that is as relevant in the design world today as it was when it was first launched in 1965. Making an appearance in her own home, Jenny loves the flexibility that this product offers – “It’s so versatile it can be used at home, in the office, it can be a TV unit, a filling cabinet or a bedside unit.”
Next up is Rimadesio’s Cover wardrobe chosen by interior designer Melissa. A popular product for many of our clients this year, it is no surprise that Cover is featured here. Continuing the theme of versatility, Cover can be completely customised to suit the users needs. In line with all of Rimadesio’s collection, it is a perfect example of excellent manufacturing whereby the finer details are never compromised.
New to the market in 2020 and currently grouped around a dining table in Tangram’s Edinburgh showroom is the Sheru chair – chosen by company director Julian. Using new technology Walter Knoll has created a chair so comfortable it is suitable for ‘hours of conversation’. A wonderful chair for dining or in its lower version as an ideal seat for relaxing. Another fine example of an outstanding seating solution designed by EOOS for Walter Knoll.
Pippa in marketing chose the Edouard sofa as her favourite product – “I really like how B&B Italia have combined traditional and contemporary, there’s a real feeling of elegance. It’s also currently in the Tangram January sale at a fantastic price!” (Always a marketing trick up her sleeve!).
For interior designer Wouter, the clear choice was the Husk armchair designed by Patricia Urquiola. Resonating comfort, the Husk is an extremely inviting chair. A beautiful blend of materials creates a fresh and quirky look which appeals to Wouter – and us all for that matter.
New for 2020, Gubi’s IOI collection was chosen by interior designer Joanne. Designed by the renowned furniture architect duo, GamFratesi, IOI is a delightful collection of tables and mirrors. Joanne – “I love the simple Art Deco detailing. It’s a really elegant collection which won’t date. The tables are available in a range of sizes and heights and work alone or grouped. I used the mirror in a bedroom project combined with Moooi Tokyo Blue wallcovering and it looked stunning.”
Equally favoured is Walter Knoll’s Legends of Carpet. Joanne used these rugs in a couple of projects in 2020. The collection is based on abstract paintings of African landscapes. Joanne particularly loves “the gentle visual movement in the yarn and the subtle combinations of colours”. She also finds that they are a great centrepiece for a room and a good starting point to develop an interior scheme. These captivating and timeless works of art really tell a story and would be considered an heirloom piece.
Our list of most loved products of 2020 ranges from the old to the new. While these products appeal to each of us for individual reasons, a common theme of timelessness remains as we are sure that these items will continue to remain on our most loved lists for years to come.
