21 Dec Favourite Furniture Designs 2022
As 2022 comes to a close, we round up our favourite furniture designs of the year.
Each member of the Tangram team has selected their favourite furniture designs of the year. Some of these are new designs, released at a recent furniture fair, others are in the old but gold category, and some have been chosen as they featured in one of our interior design projects. In each case, we highlight what it is that makes these designs so special.
Discover our top picks below, and do let us know if you have a favourite too!
Our Finance and Operations Manager, Tracy starts us off with her favourite design of 2022 – Florence, designed by Gerard Van Den Berg.
Originally designed in the 70s, Florence has recently been reintroduced and is described as a ‘contemporary tribute to a classic of the past’. Robust, playful and extremely comfortable, Florence invites the user to relax and get cosy! And this is exactly why Tracy has chosen the sofa for her design of the year – “I see myself tucked up with my blanket, watching TV and being very happy.” We quite agree, Tracy!!
For Managing Director, Sarah, the Savoy sofa from Bensen was her shining star of 2022. Soft, comfy, timeless and great for both contract and residential projects. It’s a no brainer!
Released earlier in the year, Ghia is a beautiful collection of occasional tables by Arper and is Marketing and Business Development Coordinator, Pippa’s favourite design. Pippa is all for the current 70s trend, and the Ghia tables certainly fit into this aesthetic with their organic shapes and warm earthy tones. Ghia has also been designed with sustainability in mind: the wooden tops are made from FSC-certified oak veneered mdf and the coloured tops are made of powder-coated mdf, free of VOC emissions.
Colourful, unusual and adaptable, Interior Designer Wouter, has chosen Ingrid in Stripes rug collection from Kasthall as his favourite design of 2022. These gorgeous rugs lend a modern expression to traditional Swedish weaving and work brilliantly in city apartments, rural cottages or commercial settings. No matter where they are placed, they will always add an element of fun!
Originally designed in 1972 by Mario Bellini, Le Bambole has recently had an update. The iconic chair now embraces sustainability and enhanced comfort making it even more desirable. Design Assistant Maggie, is particularly fond of this chair and wouldn’t mind it for her own home (Santa are you listening?!). Le Bambole makes for the perfect spot to curl up in with a good book in hand!
This lovely armchair also features in our showroom, upholstered in a sophisticated forest green fabric.
Next in our roundup of brilliant and beautiful designs, we have the Oru collection chosen by Interior Designer, Jenny. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, Oru has received the Best of Year award from Interior Design Magazine in the category of best “contract” seat. Rounded like the surface of a pebble, Jenny likes the soft and friendly feel to Oru.
And finally, the last in our 2022 favourite furniture designs, we have selected the Tore Onyx table from E15. This exquisite little table has beautiful distinct layers due to the natural formation of the stone – each piece is unique! Tore can be used as a bedside table or sofa companion. Its clean lines and unquestionable quality is what draws Interior Designer, Joanne to this gorgeous piece.
