Interior Design in 2025: Trends and Tangram’s Approach

More Than Trends – We Prioritise Timeless Quality

Rather than chasing fleeting trends, our focus tends to lean towards curating pieces that stand the test of time. But that doesn’t mean we don’t embrace new ideas! We enjoy keeping an eye on trends and it’s important to us that we keep up with our manufacturer’s news, and what’s going on in the design world. But, we are strong believers that great design begins with listening. Understanding our clients’ unique needs and aspirations drives everything we do. While trends come and go, we recognise the value of staying attuned to broader shifts in design—not to follow them blindly, but to remain informed and inspired as we create timeless interiors.

Here’s a look at some of the design directions shaping 2025, and how they intersect with the work we do at Tangram.

Pantone’s Colour of the Year: Mocha Mousse

Warm, sophisticated, and versatile, Mocha Mousse has been named Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025. Slipping into the earthy tones category, this rich neutral colour is soft and elegant, making it perfect for upholstery, wall finishes, or accent pieces. Here are some examples of how our brands showcase this sumptuous tone.

Yarn Collective, established in 2016 by James Gomez and Sophie Carnegie, is a London-based textile company specialising in natural and recycled fabrics. Their insanely beautiful collection of textiles are perfect for curtains, cushions, throws or furniture upholstery. Iris is a lightweight linen drape featuring a refined satin sheen, an excellent choice for curtains and occasional upholstery. Available in seven colours, we particularly adore Copper.

We love using Little Greene paint within our projects. The British manufacturer offers high quality, smooth application and drool-worthy colours. Their Sweet Treats collection hits the Mocha Mousse theme perfectly – Mochi for example, aptly named and is a beautiful choice.

Mocha Mousse has also found its way into furniture design. The Bolete Occasional Table from Andreu World is a perfect example, featuring a base crafted from highly sustainable materials. This table not only embraces the rich warmth of Mocha Mousse but also embodies a commitment to environmentally conscious design.

The Rise of Chrome and Stainless Steel

Chrome and stainless steel are experiencing a comeback, bringing sleek modernity and a sense of polish to interiors. This trend aligns beautifully with the much loved USM modular furniture systems, where clean lines and chrome take centre stage. Whether it’s a home office or a boutique retail space, the reflective quality of chrome enhances light and effortlessly instils chic sophistication. Its timeless appeal makes it a versatile choice, seamlessly complementing both contemporary and classic interiors.

Many of our lighting manufacturers have long embraced chrome and similar materials, showcasing their timeless appeal. The TMD floor light from Santa & Cole is a perfect example—its sleek metal base not only reflects this trend but also adds texture and depth. The subtle contrast against softer materials like wood or fabric enhances the interplay of textures, creating a more dynamic and visually engaging space.

While steel is often associated with a cold, industrial aesthetic, when paired with the right materials, it takes on an entirely different character—one of warmth and sophistication. The Diesis sofa from B&B Italia is a perfect example. A true design icon, its die-cast aluminium and steel support frame provides a striking contrast to the inviting, plush upholstery. Beautiful from every angle, its structure and softness achieves both comfort and elegance.

Artistic Lighting

Lighting continues to seamlessly combine function and aesthetic appeal, with sculptural designs becoming striking focal points in interiors. More than just illumination, these pieces spark conversation and add a distinct sense of character to a space.

Moooi’s Drape Light does exactly that. The 3D-knitted polyester shade carefully drapes over LED tubes to create a soft yet structured form. The interplay between fabric and light results in a warm, diffused glow that adds depth and ambiance. Its elegant silhouette and tactile materiality make it a standout piece, demonstrating how lighting can be both sculptural and atmospheric.

That being said, artistic lighting doesn’t always have to take the form of a bold suspension piece. More discreet yet equally expressive, wall lighting can also bring personality and impact to a space. Moooi’s Party wall lights perfectly illustrate this idea.

‘The Party’ is inspired by a clan of strong, captivating personalities. Whether these cast ceramic faces are placed individually or as a group, they add an element of storytelling to an interior, proving that lighting can be both functional and deeply evocative.

Discreet Technology

As technology becomes ever more integrated into our daily lives, its design is becoming increasingly discreet. Hidden solutions like Silent Gliss motorised blinds and curtains are a prime example, combining innovation with understated elegance. These systems provide seamless operation while maintaining a minimalist clean aesthetic, ensuring the technology enhances rather than dominates the space.

The Oblique portable table light, a sleek and modern design by Vincent Van Duysen for Flos, isn’t just your typical light. It cleverly integrates a wireless charging pad into its base, transforming it into a multi-functional desk accessory. This innovative feature eliminates the need for separate chargers and pesky wires, perfect for clutter-free living!

Tangram’s Take

While we appreciate current trends, and they undoubtedly provide the team with ample inspiration, our approach remains steadfastly client-focused. We prioritise understanding our clients’ vision, values, and how they live and work. For us, it’s all about creating interiors that are practical, personal, and, as a result, timeless.
