24 Jun Our Manufacturers’ Latest Designs: The Home Edit
We were fortunate enough to visit both Salone del Mobile (Milan) and 3daysofdesign (Copenhagen) this year, two highly anticipated furniture fairs.
Both events were hugely inspiring and as expected the latest designs from our manufacturers were all absolutely stunning! But as always there was a lot to take in! Having gone through our notes, we’ve pulled together our favourite homely pieces that have just been released. For gorgeous home inspiration and to discover the latest designs, see below.
Home Inspiration – the Latest Designs from Copenhagen and Milan
Iro Bed – Porro
The defining details of this new design from Porro is the stunning wooden frame. Organic and casual, the bed definitely has that ‘Japandi’ feel which we adore! Simple and sophisticated, Iro features two large headboard cushions upholstered in leather or fabric and a thick frame – 80 mm diameter – in solid turned ash wood.
Sideways Lounge Chair – Carl Hansen & Son
Carl Hansen & Son presented their latest lounge chair during 3daysofdesign. A work of craftsmanship, the Sideways Lounge Chair has been introduced after the success of the Sideways Sofa by Rikke Frost. Combining classic materials such as wood, paper cord, and high-quality upholstery textile, the chair is a great example of Danish design.
Landskab – Kasthall
Designed by the renowned Danish designer Cecilie Manz, this collection of rugs beautifully merges Kasthall’s rich heritage of craftsmanship with Manz’s unique design sensibility. Featuring four rug designs – two flatwoven and two hand-tufted – each rug is connected by a soothing colour palette and an inclusion of linen yarn.
Pearl Rug Collection – nanimarquina
The nanimarquina Pearl rug collection was definitely on our top picks list. Following the current organic trend, the circular rugs were irregular in their shape; perfect in their imperfection! We loved the collection so much we immediately placed an order for our showroom!
Delta Max – Bensen
New from Bensen is the Delta Max sofa. Extremely comfortable with a generous seat cushion, trust us when we say when you sit down you won’t want to get off! The contrasting piping was a sweet detail that furthered our appreciation for this design.
Kuyu – Zeitraum
Green was definitely a theme during both 3daysofdesign and Salone. We particularly enjoyed it’s presence in Zeitraum’s Kuyu coffee table. The Verde Alpi marble top is a new addition to the Zeitraum collection and it was absolutely stunning. As was their latest range of colour stains, Fjord (seen here) is a heavenly deep green-blue. Love, love, love!
Aura Side Tables – Bensen
These stunning tables from Bensen immediately caught our attention, in fact they were one of our favourite designs from Milan. Beautifully crafted, we love the detail of the wooden legs and they are particularly lovely when the two sizes are paired together.
F300 Chair – Gubi
The Gubi showroom was impressive as always and it was great to see their latest pieces including the F300 chair, designed by Pierre Paulin. Made from fully recycled polymer and with a distinct sculptural shape, the design is both quirky and comfortable.
Pietra – Gubi
Also new from Gubi, is the stunning side table collection, Pietra. Available in a rectangular or square form, these beautifully robust tables can be used as a bedside table or a sofa companion, as demonstrated here.
Osuu Chair – Walter Knoll
Osuu Chair is a lightweight wooden chair from Walter Knoll which we fell in love with. The design has been steam-bent to create beautiful curves providing support and comfort. Available in oak or walnut (only a handful of manufacturers worldwide can bend solid walnut!).
Clam – Fritz Hansen
Fritz Hansen showcased their extension of the Clam lighting family – now available in floor and table versions as well as the original suspension fixture. Aptly named, Clam shines a luminescent pearl of light through mouth-blown opal glass. With exquisite brass detailing and a timeless aesthetic, Clam illuminates spaces with mood-enhancing light.
Stock n’ Roll – Poltrona Frau
The luxurious Stock ‘n Roll bedside table from Poltrona Frau is made of curved beech plywood and Poltrona’s signature leather with tone-on-tone stitching. The top can be upholstered in leather to match or in precious semi-gloss marble. The inner shelving ensures belongings can be stored away in a tidy fashion. Stock ‘n Roll is thus both unique and functional.
Throws – Moooi
We adored Moooi’s latest collection of woven wool blankets. Available in a range of colours and patterns, they immediately add softness and character. Perfect draped over sofas, lounge chairs or indeed beds. The designs were so beautiful we ordered six for the showroom, pop in to see first-hand just how gorgeous they are!
Fars Glas – Hem
Fars Glas is an iconic wine glass created by renowned Swedish glassware artist Erik Höglund. Design brand Hem has partnered with heritage glassmaker Kosta Boda to revive this beloved design, which has been out of production for decades.
Luna – Swedese
Swedese’s Luna was a stand out piece for us during 3daysofdesign. This sweet little desk makes for a perfect dressing table or home office work space. The curved detail of the drawer was a lovely touch and the possibility of adding a back shelf and mirror was an added bonus elevating this piece further.
Klem Bed and Ginko Chairs – Porada
The Klem bed is an expression of comfort. With solid canaletta walnut details and an inviting upholstered structure ( available with removable upholstery or in non-removable leather), Klem certainly makes a statement. Also visible here are the Gingko lounge chairs. Again made from solid canaletta walnut, and with the outer shell in leather. Comfortable and oozing in style!
We hope you have enjoyed reading about some of our favourite designs from 3DOD and Salone. We’re excited to see some of these in our showroom in the coming weeks! Do let us know if you have any questions or indeed if you need any interior advice – as always, we’d love to hear from you!
