23 May Our Milan Must Haves: Salone del Mobile 2024
Salone del Mobile 2024
You may have spotted on our Instagram stories not so long ago that we were in Milan recently at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair. We try to attend every year as it is a chance for us to see first-hand the latest designs from our manufacturers. It’s also a wonderful place for inspiration as the city transforms into a creative wonderland! This year it was MD Sarah and Interior Designer Wouter who jetted off to this city of splendour.
Milano Must Haves
As we look back through the 100s of photos we have taken we select some of our favourite and most memorable designs. Discover our Milano must haves this year!
DOPO Stool – Mattiazzi
Designed by Studio Œ, the DOPO stool stood out with it’s soft and somewhat playful nature. We loved the extended back leg which acts as a perfect hook for a jacket or bag.
Pearl Rug Collection – nanimarquina
The nanimarquina Pearl collection was also on our top picks list. Following the current organic trend, the circular rugs were irregular in their shape; perfect in their imperfection! We loved the collection so much we immediately placed an order for our showroom!
Aura Side Table – Bensen
These stunning tables from Bensen immediately caught our attention. Beautifully crafted, we love the detail of the wooden legs.
Delta Max Sofa – Bensen
Also new from Bensen is the Delta Max sofa. Extremely comfortable with a generous seat cushion, trust us when we say when you sit down you won’t want to get off! The contrasting piping was a sweet detail that furthered our appreciation for this design.
Catifa Carta – Arper
Arper’s Catifa chair has had a green upgrade! Catifa Carta features a re-engineered shell made from a revolutionary new material – a wood by-product. A first of its kind innovation, the material dramatically reduces Catifa Carta’s impact on the environment.
Able Chair – Bla Station
Here Sarah enjoys the lovely Able chair from Bla Station. Aptly named, Able is sustainable, recyclable, upgradeable, changeable, renewable, dismountable, traceable, serviceable, adaptable, and lovable!
Kaldewei Collection – e15
e15 and Kaldewei introduce a collection of bathroom furniture and accessories, designed by Munich based industrial designer Stefan Diez. The furniture is crafted in solid European oak and the collection includes stools in different heights, a bench, a foot board, a towel rack (also ordered for the showroom) and bath bridge.
Gingko Armchairs – Porada
Porada’s stand was just as gorgeous as we imagined. The Ginko armchairs seen here were particularly lovely – made from solid canaletta walnut and with the outer shell in leather. It’s all about the details isn’t it!
Sansiro Dining Table – Porada
Porada also showcased the stunning Sansiro dining table with an enormous Patagonia marble top.
Podi and Jig Occasional Tables – Porada
As well as these sweet little occasional tables! Jig (right) has a unique blown glass base which has been made using the traditional Murano artisan technique to ensure a lightweight aesthetic. A great choice for a coffee table, particularly if you have wooden floors and would like to introduce another material.
New Bed – Porro
The defining details of this new design from Porro (name to be announced) is the stunning wooden frame. Organic and casual, the bed definitely has a ‘Japandi’ feel which we adore!
Storage System – Porro
Beautiful storage units, also from Porro. Green was definitely a theme in Milan. A colour with a strong connection to nature and sustainability, we definitely spotted it in abundance during the fair.
Francis Dining Table – Rimadesio
We therefore couldn’t not include Rimadesio’s Francis table in a dazzling green marble. Whilst it can be a tricky material logistically and of course is on the pricier side of the spectrum, marble is always undeniably stunning.
Zenit Shelving – Rimadesio
Also a favourite of ours from Rimadesio was the Zenit shelving in a terracotta/rust finish. Gorgeous!
Allure O’ Dot – B&B Italia
B&B Italia’s latest dining table Allure O’ Dot also picks up on the earthy tones trend that’s here to stay. Designed by Monica Armani, the series of glossy tables combine ‘taste, elegance and modernity in a single proposal.’
Ares Dining Table – Maxalto
We also really liked the Ares table from B&B Italia’s sister company Maxalto. Whilst not a new piece, we enjoyed seeing the solid wood X-shaped leg structure formed from two overlapping shapes. Another design that is giving off all the ‘Japandi’ vibes.
Loto Side Tables – Maxalto
Maxalto’s Loto side tables were functional as well as stylish. Available in various woods and sizes and can be combined with a tray that fits perfectly on the table top – ideal for serving breakfast in bed or a cocktail on the sofa!
Tubelight – Moooi
Moooi released a new lighting design – the immensely versatile Tubelight. Whether it’s lighting, furniture, wallpaper or textiles there is always an element of wackiness to Moooi’s designs and Tubelight certainly fitted this mould. Flexible by nature, the tube can be draped over the sleek black fixture or fixed to the ceiling or wall with the clamping holders.
Blanket Collection – Moooi
Osuu Chair – Walter Knoll
Afuera Outdoor Sofa – Andreu World
Bolete Lounge BIO – Andreu World
Bolete Chair – Andreu World
Sideways Chair & Sideways Table – Carl Hansen & Son
Sideways Chair & Sideways Table – Carl Hansen & Son
Finally we wrap up with Carl Hansen’s Radiohouse Mirror, a beautiful design yet to be officially released. We also rather enjoyed taking this photo!
