CH88T Chair – Carl Hansen & Sons
Designed by Hans J. Wegner. The CH88T chair is an example of Hans J. Wegner’s experimental nature – an artful fusion of wood and steel, the versatile CH88T chair epitomizes Wegner’s playful approach to working with diverse materials.

Although known for his work in wood, Hans J. Wegner often explored the limits and potential of other materials. The CH88T dining chair is one such example. The CH88T was initially developed by Wegner as a prototype with colored legs. It was displayed at the international Helsingborg Exhibition in Sweden in 1955. A few decades later, Carl Hansen & Søn brought the design into full production in celebration of Wegner’s 2014 centennial. The CH88T is versatile, elegant and functional. Its convenient stackable design seamlessly joins wood and industrial steel, showcasing Wegner’s skill in softening minimalist forms. The steel frame supports a curved, oval wooden seat and steam-bent wooden backrest with upturned ends forming a natural resting place for arms. The CH88T chair is available in beech, oak and smoked oak in a range of finishes. The frame is available in stainless steel, chrome and powder coating. In the CH88P version, leather or textile upholstery are seat options.
