24 Oct The Role of Furniture in Collaborative Spaces
Collaboration, Communication and Innovation
In the ever-evolving landscape of work environments, the role of furniture in collaborative spaces has gained considerable attention. So many businesses now recognise that the design and arrangement of furniture plays a pivotal role in creating an environment that fosters teamwork, creativity, and productivity.
In this blog post, we explore examples of thoughtfully chosen furniture which positively impacts collaborative spaces and enhances communication and innovation.
Gas Chairs – STUA
Collaborative spaces are designed to break down barriers and encourage open communication among team members. Traditional office layouts with fixed cubicles or isolated workstations often hinders natural interactions, whilst furniture that promotes openness and easy access to one another helps enable a collaborative culture.
Below we share a few of our favourite designs that are perfect for collaborative working.
Collaborative Working – Designs We Love
In Out Office – Andreu World
The In Out Office furniture system is designed to encourage productivity and offers an innovative approach to professional environments, particularly when hybrid working is the norm. Featuring a range of elements, including sofas, poufs and desks, the system incorporates acoustic reduction solutions to enhance privacy and soundproofing for individual focus or collaborative efforts. The modular design ensures versatility, and the addition of wheels to the modules further enhances adaptability, allowing for seamless reconfiguration to meet diverse needs in evolving work settings.
Boulevard – +Halle
Crafted for dynamic and fast-paced work environments, the Boulevard bench system is a tailored solution for lounges or breakout areas whereby individuals can take a break. With the growing demand of rejuvenation spaces, Boulevard effortlessly addresses the need for shared pauses, offering a quick break to individuals. Moreover, its thoughtful design not only accommodates individual relaxation but also encourages those invaluable “watercooler moments” where teamwork is fortified, and collaboration naturally flourishes. The Boulevard collection becomes a focal point for spontaneous interactions, and therefore goes far beyond its primary function of providing a comfortable place to rest.
Zinta – Arper
Zinta is a lovely modular sofa system designed to inspire ‘comfortable connections’. Combining smooth lines with inviting materials and a deep seat, Zinta ensures optimal comfort for a relaxed recline. With its variable lengths and gentle angles the system offers versatility in both form and function.

The base, with optional castors, ensures flexibility and freedom of movement. As a result, the layout can be adjusted for different activities or collaborative sessions as and when is required.
Abstracta x Wall of Art
Acoustic pioneers, Abstracta, have joined forces with the art platform Wall of Art to develop a series of sound absorbing contemporary artworks, and they are truly stunning! The objective was to create ‘harmonious soundscapes while giving spaces personality and character with works from exciting artists.’ The collection includes both colourful and more minimal designs making them an ideal solution for many spaces. The artworks can be strategically placed to create zones that cater to different work activities, from quiet focused individual work, to noisy collaborative meetings.
