News from the Furniture Fairs 2022 – part one

Discover what’s new in contemporary furniture and design

Over the last few months there has been a LOT happening in the design industry with furniture fairs galore! We were very fortunate to attend a couple of these (London’s Clerkenwell Design Week and Milan’s famous Salone Del Mobile) and how wonderful it was to see these events in full swing once more! So now that the dust has settled and we’ve had a chance to bring our notes together, we’re sharing with you some of our favourite new products and news from the furniture fairs in 2022.

Calma Stua

Let’s start with the wonderful STUA who introduced their latest piece in Milan – Calma. The stackable lounge chair is every bit as comfortable as it looks. ‘An ingenious combination of hammock and upholstered armchair’ Calma works like a sling adapting to the body to allow for the most relaxing position.

E15
E15 Ilma

On a similar note, E15 introduces their lounge chair Ilma – ‘a refined and modern interpretation of a sling chair’. With a solid wood frame and beautifully soft leather harness, Ilma cries out to be sat on.

Tore onyx

Also new to their collection is the Tore side table in Onyx. Available in pale green Verde or warm spice tones of Fantastico, Tore is an exquisite piece, original and beautiful.

ghia tables arper

Arper has also recently released a gorgeous side table – Ghia. Available in a range of sizes, tops and bases, Ghia offers endless combinations. We particularly loved the terrazzo tops which are created using all-natural materials, such as marble aggregate and Portland cement. Not only are they beautiful but sustainable too! ‘The entire process requires no heat, so no fossil fuels, and no synthetic resins. Additionally, rainwater that is free from lime, chlorine and detergents is used in the production process, reducing the CO2 emissions to ensure a minimal environmental impact.’

Juno Chair Arper

New colour possibilities have been introduced for the much-loved chair Juno, also from Arper. The new palette is inspired by the natural world and embraces warm earthy tones.

Another new launch we are loving is Artifort’s Moon lounge chair. Described as a ‘modern art that provides a feeling of security and relaxation.’ Also featured here is their new side table Compass, a sofa companion that is designed to ‘enhance seating experiences and adapt naturally to our flexible lifestyles’. These would look equally perfect in a residential or contract furniture setting.

Bla Station RUT sofa

Bla Station releases their new modular sofa named RUT. The clever seating system consists of 75 x 75 cm squares which can be arranged according to functional and aesthetic requirements. Casual and inviting, RUT works well in so many interior settings, both private and commercial.

zenso high lounge chair

Comfortable, sculptural and sustainable – Zenso High lounge chair from Zeitraum has a striking wooden base giving it a very distinct appearance. Combined with Zenso Pouf it makes for the ultimate sitting experience!

AD ALL collection Zeitraum

In addition to their newest lounge chair, Zeitraum also releases a new collection of occasional furniture and accessories including mirrors, hooks, a foostep and a curved screen. Each item in the collection is a celebration of wood, which we love!

To help tackle the global waste issue we face, nanimarquina launches a new green-thinking rug – Re-Rug. ‘Re-Rug emerged from the decision to use the leftover wool accumulated by our suppliers. This initiative is the result of a long research process, the challenge of recovering these wools to create a new yarn suitable for weaving. Each Re-Rug uses 1kg/m2 of reprocessed wool, thereby directly helping to reduce unmanaged waste, as well as reducing CO2 emission, since no virgin material needs to be produced.’ A beautiful rug with a sustainable soul.

quilt rug kasthall

Kasthall launches Quilt – a rug where many layers of design elements intersect. ‘It’s different colours, shapes, and textures create an elaborate, genuine, and recognisable design piece.’

Bensen

‘The crisp perimeter of the backrest wraps you in plush comfort.’ Bensen introduces Collar, a versatile chair with a lovely soft appearance.

Wing Stool Bensen

Also released this year by Bensen, is the Wing stool. Sitting atop a slender frame is Wing’s graceful seat. Stackable, practical and elegant, Wing is a wonderful new addition to Bensen’s collection.
