Meet The Tangram Team – Joanne

Meet the team

It’s the third week of our ‘Meet The Team’ blog series. We have asked each member of the Tangram team a few all-important questions and this week Joanne Golden shares with us her answers. We hope you enjoy getting to know us and should you wish, please feel free to pick up the phone for a chat!

Name: Joanne Golden

Job title: Interior Designer

1. What does a typical day at Tangram look like for you?

There is no typical day as my day is usually very varied, but it usually starts with a coffee, checking emails and a team meeting to catch up on our collective projects.  The day might be spent in the office space planning, meeting clients on site, coordinating an installation or sometimes in front of a spreadsheet.

2. Favourite designer/interior designer/architect or hero?

Lucienne Day – she was an incredible textile designer and a pioneer for all female designers who was determined to make good design affordable and accessible.  She made great strides in what was a male-dominated industry in Post-War Britain. I went to an exhibition celebrating her work about 20 years ago at The Barbican and I was hooked!

3. Describe briefly what your dream home would look like – particularly the interior?

I love a home that reflects its owners, so my dream home would be full of all my favourite things! (Although working at Tangram means I am surrounded by lots of lovely things and I am always changing my mind about my current favourites). I like lots of natural light and a strong link between the indoor and outdoor spaces as it can help lift your mood 🙂

4. Favourite thing about your job?

I have been privileged to get the opportunity to work on some really special buildings and helping the client put their fingerprint on the interior and get the best out of their home is very satisfying.

5. What do you like doing when you’re not at work?

Meeting friends for lunch and the occasional exhibition when I have time, running, crafting and baking with my daughter.

6.  What was your first job?

I had a weekend job in a hairdressers, I washed hair and helped with colours and perms –  that tells you how long ago it was!

7. What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, it’s a really thought-provoking read making you consider the impact of every decision you ever made or turn you ever took. Loved it!
