Our Milan Favourites: Salone del Mobile 2026

Tangram News

With the days growing longer, trees beginning to bloom and a new sense of energy everywhere, Spring is always a refreshing time. And that feeling of newness extends into the world of design too as April welcomes Salone del Mobile and with it, a host of new collections and inspiring designs from some of our favourite furniture manufacturers.
Every year we attend this world-renowned furniture fair in Italy’s fashion and design capital, Milan. This year, Sarah, Wouter and Joanne attended from the Tangram team and whilst it may sound like a glamorous trip, it is far from a holiday. With limited time, we move quickly through an extensive list of manufacturers exhibiting at the fair, each showcasing their latest designs.
Seeing these pieces in person is incredibly important to us, allowing us to confidently introduce them as ideas to our customers. Today we highlight a few designs that stood out this year which will undoubtedly make their way into our design proposals going forward.

Starting with Arco, we were particularly drawn to the new addition of the Dew collection - a beautifully crafted desk that is not only practical, but also incredibly tactile. Designer Sabine Marcelis expertly combines organic forms with the natural beauty of the wood grain to create a piece that immediately draws you in. Dew is available in three sizes and can be finished in a wide range of Arco’s natural or coloured finishes, in both solid and veneer wood. The curved legs not only add visual interest, but also provide a practical solution by increasing leg space.

Next on our list of favourite finds was Parker by Bensen, showcased in a new leather finish called Cervo. The generous seat and back cushions made it incredibly comfortable and the proportions felt just right. We especially loved the smooth armrests, which added to the chair’s refined feel. Parker would look equally at home in a commercial setting or a trendy modern home.

Pricing from £2068 (fabric), £2730 (leather)

What also stood out to us from Bensen was their introduction of rugs, marking a first for the brand. Although new to the category, the quality and refinement of the collection suggest otherwise. The Hi-Lo collection features horizontal stripes with varying pile heights, available in four beautiful tones.

Pricing from £2714 (3000x2000)

An organic theme continues as we move onto Soma from Bla Station. This lovely collection is a family of seating and tables with endless configuration possibilities. The seat cushions really stand out and have what are described as ‘soft bulbous shapes’ giving them a somewhat jolly appearance which we adored.

Relatively new to our family of manufacturers is Italian lighting brand Davide Groppi. We never take the decision to represent a new brand lightly, as ultimately their reputation becomes part of our own, but this is a brand we can wholeheartedly stand behind. The designs can be described as crisp, clean and highly architectural, yet they also possess a real sense of ingenuity which we’re afraid to say, simply can’t be fully captured through an online image.
The suspension light below for example might look like a simple orb but what you don’t see is its ability to move up and down through a sophisticated control system. Perfect as a bedside light which you can pull down for some late night reading. So very clever!

Also within the lighting category, we were particularly drawn to Marset’s extension to the Fragile collection. Featuring a delicate glass cone and sphere, Fragile is a piece that feels both beautiful and magical. Almost reminding us of a scene from a Harry Potter movie, these hanging candle-like lights would look exceptional in a shop window, restaurant or simply above a dining table at home.

We next visited the Mattiazzi stand where we saw a long-time favourite, the Oto collection by Studio OE. This has now expanded to include a coffee table and square side table. Crafted from Okoume wood the collection can be finished in natural wax or grey, green-beige, dark red, or blue aniline.

Pricing from £1151 (coffee table), £818 (side table)

Another memorable design from Mattiazzi was the MC29 Apsis collection by Konstantin Kcric. This features an armchair, side chair, low and high stools, and round and square dining tables. Made from beech, the Apsis chair can be finished with a natural frame or colour stained black, dark red, or an exclusive purple-violet. The Apsis chair caught our attention with its crossbar design and curved backrest that doesn’t catch your back whether you sit straight on or to the side.

Pricing from £473

The Cuadra-Soft from Moroso was launched last year and has been a Tangram favourite since. This year Patricia Urquiola has added a fluffy edge detailing, making the sofa even more inviting and full of character.

Speaking of favourites, if you have read previous blogs of ours or have browsed through our projects, you will have surely spotted the Archibald armchair from Poltrona Frau. A best-selling piece that boasts exquisite quality and craftsmanship, we can never tire of this one and so of course the new modular sofa version was sure to stand out. With independent seating elements which can be freely combined, the Archibald can be upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather or a removable fabric. Comfortable, adaptable, beautiful!

We hope you have enjoyed our favourites of the fair this year. If you have any questions about any of the designs, please feel free to reach out. Our team of interior designers are here to guide you and inspire you!
