Aberdeen Apartment

Aberdeen Apartment
Set within a modern apartment in Aberdeen, this project focused on enhancing the living environment to make it both softer and more functional. Led remotely by Tangram interior designer Jenny, the design process demonstrated how collaborative and effective a long-distance approach can be - with thoughtful communication and careful planning at its core.
Blinds and Curtains
The client initially approached us for assistance with window dressings, looking to replace their existing vertical blinds. From there, the project naturally expanded to include wider space planning and furnishing support, helping to transform the main living and working area into a more welcoming and versatile space.
Jenny worked closely with the client to specify a combination of Silent Gliss blinds and curtains for the living space. The blinds provided vital shading - important as the client often works from home - while the curtains introduced softness and texture, enhancing the overall comfort of the room.

Space Planning
Space planning played a key role in reimagining the room’s layout. Jenny suggested repositioning the shelving unit to a different wall than originally planned, a simple change that significantly opened up the space and created a striking feature area.
To further support the layout, a bespoke Kasthall rug was designed - this was inspired by an image which captured exactly what the client was looking for. Opting for a round rug, rather than a traditional rectangular one, helped connect the different zones of the room without overwhelming the floor space.

Multi-functional
With the living area doubling as a workspace, careful attention was paid to achieving a balance between functionality and comfort. A Fritz Hansen dining table was introduced, serving as both a dining space and a stylish, practical desk, complemented by seat pads for added comfort.

Every element was carefully considered to ensure the room could support the demands of daily living and remote working, while remaining a calm and uplifting environment.
Through a flexible, collaborative design process, the project demonstrated how effective remote working can be - with regular communication, thoughtful planning, and creative thinking coming together to create a beautiful, multifunctional space that perfectly suits the client's lifestyle.
