We’re finally beginning to experience longer, warmer (sort of) days and there are definite signs that Spring is on the way! Hurrah!

As the seasons change and we move out of hibernation mode, it’s time to prepare our homes for the wonder that is Spring.

Over the colder months of winter our homes focus on warm and cosy, but as the seasons shift are homes too should adapt. Bright and fresh thus becomes the new warm and cosy and today we explore how to easily go about this change.

Flower Power

Introducing flowers or floral accents is a surefire way of embracing Spring. A few seasonal bouquets dotted around the home will treat all the senses – tulips, alstroemerias, ranunculi and daffodils are all lovely options at this time of year. Choose a beautiful vase to compliment and show off your seasonal blooms. Remember, the general rule of thumb is the length of the stems should be no more than one and a half to two times the height of your vase.

Indoor Outdoor Appreciation

Bring the outdoors in. It is no secret that there are many health benefits of having plants in the home but on top of this, they work well no matter which interior style you lean towards. A larger plant can create a statement or several smaller plants can help build a more eclectic interior. Pair with rattan, bamboo or timber furniture for an indoor-outdoor eclectic style.

Daring or Delicate

In nature, bright colours attract birds and bees – we can apply the same concept in our home to create a welcoming environment. Opting for joyful colours on your walls over deep hues, is an obvious way of making a big impact and immediate change. But, there can be a thin line between gorgeous and garish. When applying paint, always apply a test patch and remember to consider the colour at different points in the day when the lighting will change. If you’re not feeling colour courageous, alternatively, you may prefer to introduce calming neutrals or soft pinks to your walls if vibrant isn’t your vibe. The odd pop of colour here and there will still create a spring inspired home in an elegant and subtle way.

It’s All in the Details

Accessories play a large role in seasonal styling. These can take all sorts of forms including cushions, throws, lighting, candles, artwork, vessels, poufs… the list goes on. By swapping your accessories in the warmer months you can create a fresh perspective and feel to a space. Whether you like the weird and wonderful or simple and refined, accessories are also a great way of injecting your personality!

Celebrate Craftsmanship

Over recent years, we have seen more and more emphasis on natural materials in the home and items that celebrate craftsmanship. Using woods, rattans, cane etc, is a really lovely way to create a tactile and tranquil space that has a direct link to nature.

Textiles Transition

Swap your textiles! As you would switch to a Spring/Summer wardrobe, your throws, curtains and bed linen need a switch up too! Wools and velvets can be replaced with silks or linens for a lighter aesthetic.
